I’m supposed to be getting ready to go to work today, but one of the Assistant Managers pulled me aside yesterday and asked me if I wanted to not come in tomorrow (which is now today). I told her I needed the hours since this week I’m only working 20 hours. She then told me if I come in tomorrow, there is a good chance I will be sent home early because of over-staff.
That made me think: If I come in and told to go home after an hour from clocking in, then it would have been a waste of time and gas to work only an hour. So, I agreed not to come in. That gives me 3 straight days of “me” time. But at the same time, it sucks to know that my paycheck next week will be less than $250 (payroll is every week!)
*sigh*
I wish I can use these extra days off to spend with family and friends, but everyone will be at work or having finals this week. I wish my time off would synchronize with everyone else’s.

Thats what usually happens when working retail and in restaurants. They over staff and then cut hours. That used to piss me off when I worked at Fuddrucker’s. I quit because of it. They always end up with high turnover. Its crazy. You may need to speak with you supervisor about that issue.

I’m sorry they cut your hours. But, that’s how retail is. One time when my cousin and I were working at this clothing store, each week they’d cut her hours and finally was taken off the schedule w/o even talking to her!
